On the same latitude as Burgundy and with a climate tempered by the Black Sea, it's no wonder that Moldova was the place the Tsars looked to for their finest table wines.
Since gaining independence in 1991, Moldova has brought its excellent wines to a wider international audience. Located in the extreme west of the former Soviet Republic, Moldova has more vines than any of its neighbours. And thanks to French colonists at the end of the 19th century, most of these vines are fashionable varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Moldova is divided into four viticultural zones of which the southern zone of Cahul has been the source of some of our most popular wines. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio and delicate sparkling wines of great merit are among the many treasures well worth discovering.
